Add a Favourite Place to your AOL Toolbar

The AOL software lets you add or remove icons from your toolbar so you can customise it to your preferences and style.

The number of customised icons you can add to the AOL Toolbar depends on your screen resolution. Your screen resolution is set by your Windows software and sometimes cannot be changed to allow more than a set number of icons to be added to your toolbar.

Add or delete an icon on the AOL Toolbar

The minimum number of icons that can usually be added to your toolbar is six, but this number can be lower depending upon the screen resolution of your computer.

To add an icon to the AOL toolbar:

1. Go to the area you'd like add to your toolbar, then click the Favourite Places heart icon in the upper right of the window.
2. Click the Add to Toolbar link.
3. Select an icon by clicking it, then type a label (up to eight characters).
4. Click the OK button. Your new icon appears on the toolbar.

To delete an icon from the toolbar:

1. Right-click the icon you want to remove from your toolbar, then click Remove from Toolbar.
2. In the removal confirmation window, click the Yes button to remove the icon from the toolbar.

In addition to saving locations you want to revisit in Favourite Places or on the AOL toolbar, with the AOL 9.0 VR software you can now add Favourites to the following menus:

  • Email
  • Community
  • Services

To save a Favourite Place on an AOL Menu:

1. Click the Favourites button on the AOL toolbar.
2. Double-click the blue AOL Toolbar Menu Favourites folder, if necessary, to display the three toolbar menus (Email, Community, or Services) in which you can save favourite places.
3. Go to a favourite internet location from within the AOL service, and drag the red heart into one of the blue menu folders in your Favourite Places window. The location is now saved in both the Favourite Places and in the corresponding toolbar menu.
