Am I at risk from viruses?
Because you may be online longer with a broadband connection, hackers have more opportunities to try to infect your computer with a virus.
A virus is a malicious program intended to destroy data on your computer or crash specific software applications. Viruses can be attached to email messages or pushed to your computer via interactive web sites.
Hackers can also plant viruses if they manage to gain access to your PC. You can provide a layer of protection by installing anti-hacking software on your computer. However, we also recommend that you install anti-virus software for additional protection.
Please see our section on anti-virus software for more information.
