Access numbers are the telephone numbers your modem dials in order to make a dial-up (narrowband) connection to the internet.

Remember that dial-up access numbers are just one way to connect to the internet - there are several others (including broadband and TCP/IP) to which the following information does not apply.

UK access numbers

There are three types of access numbers in the UK:

1. 0845 numbers
- Charged at BT local rate on your phone bill.
- Accessible to all our Members.

2. 0800 numbers
- Freephone: no connection charge.
- Only available to Members on specific price plans, for example, Anytime, Light Usage and Broadband Family packages.

3. 0808 numbers
- Freephone: no connection charge.
- Only available to Members on specific price plans, for example, Anytime, Light Usage and Broadband Family packages.

International acccess numbers

- We have an extensive overseas dial-up network, with access numbers in more than 100 countries.
- To search for access numbers in other countries, click on: International Access.
- There are additional costs associated with using dial-up access abroad, which vary by country.
- As an alternative to using the dial-up network, you can connect to the internet anywhere in the world using a web browser connected to any available internet service.
