AOL Browser Error: 502 Connection Failed

You may be receiving the message Error: 502 Connection Failed for any one of several reasons. After trying the first solution, check to see if you can open or sign in to AOL Browser. If you are still receiving the message Error: 502 Connection Failed, continue using the suggested solutions until the problem is fixed.

Reset Internet Explorer security settings

The web browser's security settings tab lets you regulate security for local sites, trusted sites, and restricted sites. Restoring the settings to a default level will remove any restrictions placed on website access.

To restore the Internet Explorer security settings:

1. Click on Start, then Settings and Control Panel .
Windows XP users: Click Start and then Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options
Windows XP users may need to click Switch to Classic View first.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. In security settings select the Zone which you want to set the default settings for and click on the Default level button.
Click on Apply and then OK.


Install the latest Microsoft Virtual Machine

The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM) is technology that has been included in some versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, a component of Microsoft Windows. This technology allows certain types of programs, called Java applications or Java applets, to run on Windows-based computers.

To download and install the latest Microsoft Virtual Machine:

1. Go to http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.
2. Click the Download Now button.
3. Click the Begin Download button.
4. The download will happen automatically. When it is completed, click the Verify Installation button. If it installed correctly you will get a congratulations message.
5. Click the X on the upper right to close the web page.
