AOL Browser Error: Cannot access a specific website

You may be receiving the message 'Cannot Access a Specific Website for any one of several reasons. After trying the first solution, check to see if you can access the website. If you are still receiving the message 'Cannot Access a Specific Website', continue using the suggested solutions until the problem is fixed.

You may wish to print or save a copy of these instructions as this page may not remain visible as you go through the suggested steps.

Reset Internet Explorer security settings

The web browser's security settings tab lets you regulate security for local sites, trusted sites, and restricted sites. Restoring the settings to a default level will remove any restrictions placed on website access.

To restore the Internet Explorer security settings:

1. Click on Start, then Settings and Control Panel .
Windows XP users: Click Start and then Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options
Windows XP users may need to click Switch to Classic View first.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. In security settings select the Zone which you want to set the default settings for and click on the Default level button.
Click on Apply and then OK.


Download Java Virtual Machine

The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM) is technology that has been included in some versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, a component of Microsoft Windows. This technology allows certain types of programs, called Java applications or Java applets, to run on Windows-based computers.

To download and install the latest Microsoft Virtual Machine:

1. Go to http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.
2. Click the Download Now button.
3. Click the Begin Download button. 4. If a Security Warning box appears, click the Yes button.

Note: If a warning appears asking if you wish to grant a Java program access to the internet, click the Grant Access link. If a warning appears asking if you wish to grant Windows Installer access to the internet, click the Grant Access link.

5. Choose the Typical setup - All recommended features will be installed option by clicking it, then click the Accept button.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions and allow the software to download.
7. Click the Finish button.
8. Click the Verify Installation button to determine if the installation was successful.
9. A Congratulations message should appear where the Verify Installation button was located.
10. Click the X on the upper right to close the web page.
