AOL Browser tabbed browsing settings

AOL Browser opens each new web page in a new window within the AOL Browser window. This is what is referred to as tabbed browsing. Each new web page is identified by a tab at the top labelled with the name of the web page. Tabbed browsing makes it easier for you to switch back and forth between websites without having to open separate browser windows, or click the back and forward arrows to return to the websites you've already visited.

You can customise tabbed browsing to work the way you want.

To change your tabbed browsing settings:

1. Click the Tools menu, then click Settings.
2. Click the Tabbed Browsing tab to access the setting options.
3. Select from the following settings:

When only one website is open:
-- Hide the tab bar
-- Always show the tab bar (default)

When opening new windows my preference is to:
-- Open a new tab (default)
-- Open new tabs in the background
-- Open a new window

When a new tab is created:
-- Load my homepage in the new tab (default)
-- Load a blank page in the new tab

If multiple tabs are open when the browser window is closed:
-- Always close the window and all tabs
-- Always prompt me (default)

If a background tab opens a dialog window:
-- Bring this tab into focus (default)
-- Do not bring this tab into focus

4. Once you've made your selections, click the Save button.

To return the tabbed browser settings to their original configuration, click the Restore Defaults link in the bottom left corner of the Tabbed Browsing Settings window.
