AIM has many settings and preferences which can be changed at any time to customise your use. This includes settings for General and Enhanced IMs, Buddy List, Address Book, Expressions, Sounds, Sign In / Sign Out, Notifications, Privacy, Away Messages, Ads, and Plugins.

Change the AIM settings and preferences

You can change the settings and preferences from the Buddy List window. It's simple and easy.

To open the Settings panel:

1. Start the AIM software and sign on.
2. Click the Edit menu, then click Settings.

Note: You can also tap the F7 key on your keyboard.

3. Click the tab for the settings category you want to change.
4. Click the box next to each option that you want to change to select it or clear it. After selecting the options you want, click the Save button.
