Clear footprints using AOL Browser
As you browse the internet with the AOL Browser, information about the websites you visit is stored on your computer as footprints. Footprints can improve your browsing experience by saving specific information so that the website loads with your preferences, based on your last visit. We do not copy or store this information; it is saved on your computer.
Note: Depending on the amount of information stored, it may take a few minutes for the footprints to clear.
Clear all your footprints
You can clear all your footprints quickly and easily.
To clear all your footprints:
1. On the AOL Browser window, click the Security menu, then click Clear My Footprints.
2. Click the Clear Footprints button.
3. Click the OK button.
Specify which footprints to clear
You can control which footprints you want to clear.
To specify which footprints to clear:
1. On the AOL Browser window, click the Security menu, then click Select Footprints to Clear....
2. You can customise your footprint settings by clicking the box next to each feature. Placing a tick in it enables the feature, while clearing it disables the feature. There are eight options you can select from:
- Select All: If this feature is enabled, all the features will be enabled.
- Browsing History: If this feature is enabled, the history of the websites you have visited will be cleared.
- Cookies: If this feature is enabled, the cookies that personalise the websites you have visited will be cleared.
- Browser Cache: If this feature is enabled, the temporary internet files will be cleared.
- Blocked Pop-up List: If this feature is enabled, the list of pop-ups that were successfully blocked will be cleared.
- Thumbnails: If this feature is enabled, the thumbnail images of the websites you have visited will be cleared.
- Recent Searches: If this feature is enabled, the list of items searched in the AOL Browser search box will be cleared.
- Always show confirmation screen: If this feature is enabled, you will receive a pop-up confirmation to clear your footprints.
3. Click the Clear Selected Footprints button.
4. If Always show confirmation screen is enabled, click the Clear Footprints button.
