About the IM Catcher
The IM Catcher message organiser intercepts instant messages from people who are not listed in your Buddy List window, so that you can have an opportunity to make a decision about each one. When an instant message arrives from a non-Buddy, the IM Catcher sweeps it up and notifies you.
How to use IM Catcher:
When the IM Catcher notifies you of messages, choose one of the following options:
- Open IM opens the message. All subsequent messages from that screen name will arrive as a normal message, without going through the IM Catcher.
- Buddy Info lets you learn more about the person who sent you the message.
- Block ignores the message and blocks all future messages from that screen name whenever you are online.
- Ignore ignores the message and all subsequent messages from that screen name during that online session.
- Ignore All ignores all of the messages currently in the IM Catcher window.
Note: You can turn the IM Catcher on or off as follows:
On AOL 9.0 VR : Sign in: Buddy List Settings and tick or un-tick either or both of the following options according to your preference:
On older versions of the AOL software: Tick or un-tick the Automatically use the IM Catcher option at the bottom of the IM Catcher window.
