You can exchange files with your buddies via instant messages. Both you and your buddy must be online to exchange files.

As always, you should not accept any files from people you do not know.

Send files

To send files to your buddies:

1. Send an IM to your buddy.
2. Click the Send Files tab.
3. Click Send File (or Send Folder, if sending the entire folder) from the drop-down menu.
4. Navigate to the file or folder you wish to send, and then highlight it.
5. Click the Open button. Once your buddy accepts the transfer, the file will be sent.
6. Once the file is transferred, you will get the confirmation.


Receive files

To receive files from your buddies:

1. When you receive an file from a buddy, click the Accept link. The file will be transferred to your computer.
2. Click the file name on the IM window to open it.

Note: Aim 6.1 may not be able to send and receive files that exceed 2 GB in size.

Decline files

To decline a file:
When a buddy attempts to send a file to you and you don't want to receive it, click the Decline link. The sender will receive a message that you have declined the file transfer.

Note: AIM does not scan files for viruses.
