Avoid junk email

If you get a lot of unwanted junk email or spam, remember that AOL offers easy-to-use email controls to let you specify who can or can't send you email. To access email controls, sign on to AOL and visit Keyword Email Controls.

If you use chat rooms a lot, consider creating a separate screen name especially for chatting. Generally speaking, the more you use public areas of the internet, such as chat rooms, the more junk email you'll receive.

To create a new screen name, go to Keyword: Screen Names. Once created, set the email controls on that screen name to Block email from all senders. Now you'll be safe from spam while you chat, and your family and friends can still use your 'old' screen name to email you. Remember, you can have up to seven screen names on your AOL account.

More information about blocking junk email can be found at AOL Keyword: Spam.
