You may receive the message "There was an error importing your favourites" for any one of several reasons. After trying the first solution, check to see if you are still getting the error. If you are still receiving the error continue using the suggested solutions until the problem is fixed.
Information you need
You will need to know what version of the Microsoft Windows operating system is installed on your computer. If you do not know how to find this information, follow the instructions in the online help article entitled How to determine which version of windows I have.
Enable Active X controls
Enabling the Active X controls will allow your computer to recognise what is needed for Favourites Plus to do its job.
Import the favourites again and enable ActiveX controls
It is possible, when originally downloading the Favourites Plus service, that the Active X software (which Favourites Plus needs) didn't download properly.
1. To import the favorites again and click Yes on the ActiveX control Warning:
2. Click the Manage button.
3. Click the Import Favourites button.
4. Click the Import button.
5. Click the Yes button to accept the Active X controls.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click the Close button.
Allow ActiveX content to use the information bar
In Windows XP Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer will block any active content from running on your computer. You will see a yellow information bar at the top of the brower window.
To allow ActiveX content to use the information bar if using XP SP2:
1. Once the information bar appears at the top of the browser window, click the Security Message.
2. Click the option to Allow the content.
Ensure you are logged in as the administrator
You need to sign into your computer as the system administrator. The system administrator is usually the first name that was created when registering your operating system. If you do not know how to determine which is your system administrator name, please contact your computer or operating system manufacturer.
