Getting your PSP online with a wireless modem router

Before configuring your PSP to connect wirelessly you will need to know the network name (SSID) of the wireless router that you are going to connect to and the WPA/WEP encryption key, if you have wireless security enabled on the modem router - AOL Broadband recommends enabling security on wireless routers.

If you haven't previously made a note of this information, you will need to access your modem router's configuration page in order to note down these important settings.

Obtaining wireless settings for your wireless router

Netgear DG834g
1. Open Internet Explorer on a computer connected to the router.
2. Type http://192.168.0.1 and click Go.
3. Enter admin as the username and password as the password, then click Connect.
4. Click Wireless Settings.

This screen contains all of the information your Xbox 360 will require to connect. Note the Name (SSID) under the wireless network heading and the WPA or WEP key under the security options.

Thomson Speedtouch
1. Open Internet Explorer on a computer connected to the modem router.
2. Type http://speedtouch.lan and click Go.
3. Click Home Network.
4. Click the blue link under Wireless (which should be something like WLAN: Speedtouch...).
5. Click Configure in the top-right corner of the screen.

This screen contains all of the information your PSP will require to connect. Note the Network Name (SSID) under the Configuration heading and the WPA or WEP encryption key under the Security heading.


Connect your PSP

1. Ensure that the PSP is powered on and that the WLAN switch, located on the left-hand side of the PSP, is in the On position.
2. Press the Home button located on the front of the PSP, under the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
3. When the Home page appears, select the Settings icon and press X.
4. Scroll down through the list of options to Network Settings and press X.
5. Select Infrastructure Mode and press X.
6. If there are any connection profiles already configured on the PSP (up to 10 connection profiles may be created), select New Connection and press X, otherwise continue to the next step.
7. Press X to access the on-screen keyboard and enter in a name of your choice for the connection, press the forward key > when ready.
8. Select Scan and press X.
9. When the scan is complete select the SSID for your wireless network and press X.
10. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the WPA or WEP encryption key and then select Enter, press the forward key > when ready.
Note: the encryption key is case sensitive.
11. On the Address Settings page select Easy from the list and press the forward key >.
12. Confirm that all of the settings are correct and press forward > again.
13. Press X to save the settings.
14. Select Test Connection and press X.
15. If the connection test is successful, a page will appear detailing the connection details.
16. Press O to navigate to the Select Connection page.

If the steps performed on your console fail, the manufacturer will provide further support.
