What are Internet Access Controls (IACs)?

Internet Access Controls (IACs) are designed to work alongside Parental Controls. They reduce the risk of children encountering potential threats or inappropriate websites by requiring password access to internet-related programs on your computer.

Before you can use Parental Controls properly, it is important that you install Internet Access Controls (IACs).

When using a home network, we recommend that you install IACs on every computer connected to your network. When IACs are installed on every computer in your home, your children will only be able to visit websites according to the Parental Controls protections you set up for them. This applies even while using a different internet program, eg Internet Explorer.

If you do not download and install Internet Access Controls, you will not have this protection. Children's internet usage should be supervised at all times.

Notes:

  • IACs must be installed to enable Parental Controls to work properly.
  • IACs are unavailable for Apple Mac users.
  • IACs are provided to you by AOL (UK) Limited.
  • IACs will only work once your children are signed into AOL.
