Configure your modem router

To set up your Thomson SpeedTouch 580 modem router on your Apple Mac, you will need to configure it to connect to AOL Broadband.

Configure your modem router to connect to AOL

1. Using Safari, type the following URL in the address box: http://10.0.0.138
2. In the menu on the left, click SpeedTouch.
3. Under the Basic heading, select Connections.
4. In the User box, enter your AOL screen name followed by @aol.com (screenname@aol.com).
5. In the Password box, type your AOL password. Ensure that the Save this password box is ticked.
6. Click Save All directly above the menu on the left.
7. Click Connect.


Do you want wireless access?


No

1. In the menu on the left click Wireless.
2. Ensure that Wireless Interface Enabled is unticked.
3. Click Apply.

Yes

1. In the menu on the left click Wireless.
2. Ensure that Wireless interface enabled is ticked.
3. Make a note of the Network Name (SSID) under Access Point Settings.
4. Confirm the settings and click Apply.
5. At the top of the screen, select Security.
6. Click the arrow beside Security Level 2 – WPA-PSK (WPA Personal).
7. In the WPA-PSK Encryption Key box type a passphrase of your choice.
8. In the Encryption box select TKIP.
9. Click Apply.

Your modem router is now setup.


Configure your Mac to connect to your wireless network

Make sure you have configured your modem router for wireless access as above.

1. Click the AirPort icon in the menu bar.

2. Select Turn AirPort On.
3. If more than one wireless network is detected, select the name of your wireless network you created when setting up the modem router.
4. Enter the password you chose above.
5. Tick Remember password in my keychain and click OK.

You are now ready to use your AOL Broadband service.
