AOL Money's Portfolio functionality allows you to follow your own custom groups of investments, charts, data and headlines related to those investments. You can include additional information such as the number of shares, purchase price per share, purchase date or any other relevant information.

Notes:

  • AOL Money Portfolios only track investments; they do not purchase or trade investments for you. Please remember to verify all data with your broker before trading.

  • Issues are quoted in the currency of the country where the exchange is located. If your portfolio contains issues from different countries, it will not show a Total Value calculation, because the currencies are mixed.

Why does my portfolio show "N/A" for Valued and Gain/Loss?

Your portfolio contains ticker symbols of multiple currencies so the overall value and gain/loss cannot be calculated.

Why does my portfolio show "N/A" for % Portfolio?

The portfolio distribution cannot be calculated if your portfolio’s total short value is at least 1.5 times larger than your total long value or if your portfolio contains ticker symbols of multiple currencies.

How is Weighted Return calculated?

The weighted average returns at the bottom of the Active and Sold tabs, are calculated using the cost-weighted average of all your active or sold positions. Unlike IRR, the weighted average doesn’t include the total of all of your positions (just the active or sold), and it is not annualized. The weighted average return of your active positions is helpful when you want to look at your returns without taking into account how long you’ve held your positions or positions you’ve sold.
