How can I check the speed of my connection?

There are several online sites that help you to check your connection speed. To find one of these sites, simply click the Search button on the AOL toolbar, type Speed Test in the Search box, then click the Search button. Click a link to one of the speed test sites from the list inside the AOL Search Results window and follow the onscreen instructions.

Using the following table, you can compare transfer rates to estimate the quality of your connection speed.

AOL Broadband connections have a theoretical maximum download speed - for example, this is up to 8Mbps for AOL Broadband Wireless (equal to 8192Kbps).

The actual speed reached via your AOL Broadband connection depends on the quality of your cable or phone line wiring and the distance between your house and the local telephone exchange.
