How can I tell if an online business is legitimate?

First, do some research on the site before making a purchase.

1. Does the site have a privacy policy? Legitimate sites will always have a privacy policy, usually found in the Help or Customer Support section of their site.

2. Does the online shop list a physical address? Legitimate sites will list a street address or P.O. box so you can contact them easily.

3. Is the online shop well-known, or is it an online version of a well-known high street shop?
