How do I block instant messages?
Instant message controls let you determine the ability to send
and receive instant messages. The Instant Message service
allows one-on-one, real-time, private conversations with your friends who are online at the same time as you.
To block instant messages:
1. Go to Parental Controls.
Note: You must be signed on with your master screen name to set instant message controls.
2. Click the screen name for whom you are setting the instant
message controls.
3. Scroll to the Instant Message Controls section.
4. Choose the settings that you wish this screen name to have (further details below).
5. Click Save.
Instant Message controls provide the following settings:
-
Allow your child to IM with:
- All users: This allows your child to instant message with anyone on the internet.
- Only users I list: This allows your child to instant message with only the users you list. Click the Allow a user link to specify who your child can instant message with.
- No one: This blocks your child from being able to send or receive instant messages with anyone.
Click the Block Files, Images, Voice, & Video box if you wish to block your child from receiving these features through instant messages. Leave the box unticked if you do not wish to block these features.
