How do I delete or recover recently deleted e-mail on AOL Mail?

To keep received e-mail indefinitely, you can leave it in your Inbox or save it in your personal folder.

If needed, notify the reader to print or save the article if an instruction contained within it requires that the member sign off of the AOL service or otherwise lose connection to the article here.

Delete an E-mail on AOL Mail

Even if you have not read it, you can delete the e-mail from your AOL Mail mailbox immediately. Deleting an e-mail moves the e-mail to the Recently Deleted folder.

To delete an e-mail:

1. On the left panel of Mail window, click the folder that contains the e-mail you wish to delete.
2. Click the box next to the e-mail you wish to delete, to place a check mark in it.
3. Click the Delete button.

Delete an E-mail from the Recently Deleted Folder

Deleting an e-mail from the Recently Deleted folder will delete the e-mail permanently from your mailbox.

Notes:

If using New/Old mail view, the e-mails will remain in the Recently Deleted folder for 24 hours.

If using the unified Inbox view, the e-mails will remain in the Recently Deleted folder for 7 days.

To delete an e-mail from the Recently Deleted folder:

1. On the left panel of the Mail window, click the Recently Deleted folder to open it.
2. Click the box next to the e-mail you wish to delete, to place a check mark in it.
3. Click the Delete button.
4. Click the OK button.

Recover Recently Deleted E-mail

E-mails deleted from the Recently deleted and Spam folders are immediately erased, and are unrecoverable. Recovered e-mail is returned to your Inbox or to the folder from which it was originally deleted.

To recover deleted e-mail:

1. On the left panel of the Mail window, click theRecently Deleted folder to open it.
2. Click the box next to the message you wish to recover, to place a check mark in it.
3. Click the Restore button.
