How do I remove and reinstall my modem?

Before doing this: please ensure that you have the most recent version of the modem software. You can download these modem drivers at Broadband Drivers.

Textual instructions on how to reinstall your modem (for BT Voyager or Alcatel modems) are as follows:

BT Voyager 105 USB DSL Modem

  1. Click on Start (Windows Start Button) then Settings and Control Panel. (Windows XP users, click Start and then Control Panel.)
  2. In the Control Panel, double click on the Add/Remove icon. (Windows XP users may need to click Switch to Classic View in order for this option to be visible.)
  3. Select the BT Voyager105 Modem and then click on Remove.
  4. Once the drivers are uninstalled, restart your PC.
  5. Explore your broadband CD and run the Doctor105.exe file.
  6. Once this is complete you are ready to install the modem drivers again.

BT Voyager 100 USB DSL Modem

  1. Click on Start (Windows Start Button) then Settings and Control Panel. (Windows XP users, click Start and then Control Panel.)
  2. In the Control Panel, double click on the Add/Remove icon. (Windows XP users may need to click Switch to Classic View in order for this option to be visible.)
  3. Select the BT Voyager 100 Modem and then click on Remove.
  4. Once the drivers are uninstalled, restart your PC.
  5. Explore your broadband CD and run the Doctor100.exe file.
  6. Once this is complete you are ready to install the modem drivers again.

BT Voyager 50 USB DSL Modem

  1. Click on Start (Windows Start Button) then Settings and Control Panel. (Windows XP users, click Start and then Control Panel.)
  2. In the Control Panel, double click on the Add/Remove icon. (Windows XP users may need to click Switch to Classic View in order for this option to be visible.)
  3. Select the BT Voyager 50 Modem and then click on Remove.
  4. Once the drivers are uninstalled, restart your PC.
  5. Explore your broadband CD and run the Doctor.exe file.
  6. Once this is complete you are ready to install the modem drivers again. Go to AOL Keyword: Broadband Drivers for installation guides and modem driver software.

Alcatel SpeedTouch USB DSL Modem

  1. Unplug the modem from the USB port.
  2. Go to Start, Settings, open the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Highlight the Alcatel SpeedTouch Driver and click Add/Remove or Change/Remove.
  4. When the process has completed, restart your computer.
  5. Double-click on the Alcatel SpeedTouch Driver drivers which you downloaded, then double-click on Setup.exe and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. When the drivers have been installed, it is safe to plug your modem into the USB port.
  7. Now try to sign on to AOL again, to see if you can get connected.
