How do I stop AOL being my default web browser?
If you have previously made the AOL software your preferred internet application or default web browser, but wish to change this (for example, if you also use another Internet Service Provider), you can do so by choosing a different default browser, such as Internet Explorer.
To make Internet Explorer your default web browser:
- Click Start, Settings and Control Panel.
Windows 7, Vista and XP users: Click Start, then Control Panel. - Double-click Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab.
- Tick the box beside Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.
Windows 7 and Vista users: Tick the box beside Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser. - Click OK.
- Close any Internet Explorer windows you may have open.
- Restart Internet Explorer (for example, by double-clicking the Internet Explorer icon on your Windows desktop).
- You should see a dialogue box asking if you wish to make Internet Explorer your default browser. Click Yes.
Notes:
- The instructions above may vary slightly depending on your exact
version of Internet Explorer and/or Windows. For further support,
visit the Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/ie/support/
- For information on how to choose a different default browser (for example, Netscape or Firefox), consult the documentation of the browser in question.
