How do I upload my web page to AOL's web server?

If you've already created a web page for yourself (see AOL Keyword: Web Building), you can make it publicly available on the Web by uploading it to your free AOL Web space using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Do this as follows:

  1. Sign on using your AOL software, then go to Keyword: FTP and click See My FTP Space.
  2. Click Upload. You will be asked the name of the file you wish to upload, and the file type ('ASCII' for text and HTML pages, or 'Binary' for images or other files).
  3. After typing the name of the file and choosing the file type, click Continue, then click Select File.
  4. Choose the file on your computer that you wish to upload, click Open, then click Send. There will be a short delay while your file is uploaded. You can continue to upload more files at this point if you wish, up to your maximum of 2 megabytes per screen name (to create more screen names, sign onto AOL and go to Keyword: Screen Names).

Any files you have uploaded can be accessed on the web as follows: http://members.aol.com/your-screen-name/file-name

    For example: http://members.aol.com/john12345/home.html

Note: If you prefer, you can use other FTP software to upload your files to AOL.
