How to use TopSpeed

The TopSpeed software is set up automatically when you install the AOL 9.0 VR software. TopSpeed web-acceleration technology speeds up your web-browsing experience by storing and reusing elements of web pages that you visit, so pages appear much quicker on your next visit. The TopSpeed software is automatically turned on so you can begin enjoying the benefits of TopSpeed technology immediately once you start AOL 9.0 VR .

You can use TopSpeed technology when you are signed on to the AOL 9.0 VR software over either a dial-up or a high-speed connection.

Clear the TopSpeed cache

Most users will not have to clear the TopSpeed cache. If you are experiencing significant performance problems when you are browsing the web, clearing the cache may help fix the problem.

To clear the TopSpeed cache for AOL Browser:

1. On the AOL Browser window, click the Tools menu, then click Settings....
2. Click the TopSpeed tab.
3. Click the Clear TopSpeed Cache button.
4. Click the Save button

Turn off TopSpeed

Turning off the TopSpeed feature may slow your web browsing experience.

To turn TopSpeed off in AOL Browser:

1. On the AOL Browser window, click the Tools menu, then click Settings....
2. Click the TopSpeed tab.
3. Click the Use TopSpeed when available box to clear it to turn TopSpeed off.
4. Click the Save button.

To turn off TopSpeed for AOL 9.0 VR :

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon.
2. Click the Internet (Web Browser) Settings link.
3. Click the Optimise Web browsing using TopSpeed Technology box to clear it.
4. Click the Save button.
5. Click the X in the upper right to close the Preferences window.
