IE prompts 'Work Offline/Connect' message

If you are being asked by Internet Explorer to connect even though you are connected to the internet, please check the following:

Make sure Internet Explorer is not set to work offline:

1. On your Windows desktop, double-click Internet Explorer
2. Click the File menu and make sure Work Offline is NOT ticked. If it is, just click Work Offline to remove the tick.
Internet Explorer 7.0/Windows Vista users: Click the Tools menu and make sure Work Offline is NOT ticked.

Make sure proxy settings are disabled:

1. Click Start, Settings and Control Panel.
Windows XP/Vista users, click Start and then Control Panel.
2. Double-click Internet options.
3. Click the Connections tab, then click the LAN Settings button.
4. Ensure that the Proxy Server settings are NOT ticked.

Check your firewall software

An active firewall on your computer could restrict the AOL software from making a connection. If you have firewall software installed, please configure it to allow the AOL software to access the internet.

Select your firewall below for steps on how to modify the firewall security to allow the AOL software to work with the firewall software. We recommend that you contact the firewall software supplier if you require any further information.
