The 'My server requires authentication' box in Microsoft Outlook Express will reset automatically for your AOL email if the 'Store special folders on IMAP server' box has been ticked.
Clear the special folders option
If the Store special folders option was selected in Outlook Express, you may have received an error message when sending email. Despite the error message, your email was sent correctly.
To clear the special folders option:
1. Launch Outlook Express.
2. Click the Tools menu, then click Accounts.
3. Highlight the account you want to use by clicking it, then click the Properties button.
4. Click the IMAP tab.
5. Under the Special Folders section, click the Store special folders on IMAP server box to clear it, then click the OK button.
6. Click the Close button.
7. Click the File menu, then click Exit. The error message should no longer appear when you send AOL email through Outlook Express.
