Share your Favourite Places with friends

There may be times you would like to share some yof your favourite places with friends and family. Here's how to share them through email, instant messages, or on message boards.

Add a Favourite Place hyperlink to email

Any web address (URL) that you type directly into the Write Email window will automatically be converted to a hyperlink. Hyperlinks sent in email to internet addresses may or may not display, depending on the email software the recipient uses.

To add a Favourite Place hyperlink to email:

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Write icon.
2. Click the Insert Favourite Place button, then click a favourite place you want to send.
3. Compose and send your email as usual.

Note: If you are online when you write your email, you can also drag the heart icon from any window title bar directly to your email.

Add a Favourite Place hyperlink to an instant message

Click the Insert in Instant Message icon in the upper right of any window to insert a link directly in a new instant message note.

To add a Favourite Place hyperlink to an instant message:

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the IM icon.
2. In the Send To: box, type the screen name of the person you want to chat with.
3. Click the Insert Favourite Place icon, then click a favourite place to link to from the list that appears.
4. Type an additional message in the instant message note box if you want, then click the Send button.

Note: If you click the Favourite Place heart at the top right of any window, you'll get a menu. Click the Insert in Instant Message link to insert a link to that site in a new instant message.

Add Hyperlinks to a message board message or reply

You may also copy and paste addresses of the sites you visit from the address bar at the top of the AOL window.

To add hyperlinks to a Message Board message or reply:

1. Click the Favourites button, then click Favourite Places.
2. Drag the favourite place heart you want to add into the message you are writing (if the favourite place is within a folder, double-click the folder to open it).

Add a hyperlink to your Member Profile

You can share hyperlinks by adding them to your Member Profile.

To add a link to your Member Profile:

1. Sign on to AOL and go to AOL Keyword: My Profile.
2. Click Links on the left, then follow the onscreen instructions.
