How do I delete my Temporary Internet Files?

You can delete the record of the most recent web pages you have visited as follows:

Windows Vista:

  1. Click Start, then Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Internet Options icon.
  3. In the 'Browsing History' section, click Delete...
  4. Click Delete files... and Delete history....
  5. Click Close and then click OK.

Windows XP and below:

  1. On the Windows Start menu, go to Settings, then click Control Panel.
    For Windows XP - click Start, then select Control Panel. In the Control Panel, ensure that the classic view is selected (by clicking Switch to classic view on the top left hand corner).
  2. Double-click the Internet Options (or Internet) icon.
  3. In the 'Temporary Internet Files' section, click on Delete Files... and then click OK.
  4. Click on Clear History and then click Yes.


To delete your temporary internet files using your AOL software:

  1. Sign-on to AOL and go to AOL Keyword: Preferences. AOL 9.0 VR users should then select the By Category tab and click the Internet (Web) Options link, while users of AOL 8.0 and below click Internet Properties (WWW).
  2. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click on Delete Files... and then click OK.
  3. Click on Clear History and then click Yes.


To delete your AOL History Trail (which displays the last 25 places you've been on AOL on your AOL toolbar):

  1. Sign-on to AOL and go to AOL Keyword: Preferences.
  2. AOL 9.0 VR users should then click on the Toolbar link on the Essentials tab, while users of AOL 8.0 and below click Toolbar & Sound.
  3. Click Clear History Trail Now.
  4. Click Yes.
