The computer could not get an internet connection

AC 3000, AC 1500, AC 4500, AC 5500

The computer could not get an internet connection within a reasonable amount of time. There may be a networking problem.

To fix the problem, try one or all of the following:

Rebuild the AOL adapter and delete ACS files

If the AOL adapter or ACS files have become damaged or corrupt, this may cause problems connecting to the AOL software.

To rebuild the AOL adapter and delete ACS files:

1. Close the AOL software.
2. *Use the One-Click Fix to rebuild the AOL adapter/delete ACS Files.
3. Start the AOL software and click Sign On.

Windows Vista users:

One-Click Fixes are unavailable on Windows Vista. Please follow the steps below to rebuild the AOL adapter and delete ACS files.

5. Click the Start button beside Rebuild AOL Adapter.
6. When the confirmation appears, click OK.

When you restart the AOL program, the AOL adapter will be reinstalled automatically.

To delete the ACS files using Windows Vista:

Restart your computer

Restarting your computer will refresh the files and folders in Windows and may help to solve the problem you are having.

1. Shut down your computer in the usual way, eg by clicking Start, then Shut Down.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Turn your computer back on and try to connect again.

*Use the One-Click Fix to restart your computer.

Check your firewall software

An active firewall on your computer could restrict the AOL software from making a connection. If you have firewall software installed, please configure it to allow the AOL software to access the internet.

Select your firewall below for steps on how to modify the firewall security to allow the AOL software to work with the firewall software. We recommend that you contact the firewall software supplier if you require any further information.

McAfee® Personal Firewall
McAfee® 2007
Norton 2003/2005
