Why can't I view any graphics on websites?

If pictures and graphics aren't appearing on any websites you visit, first try reloading the page using the Refresh button on the left-hand side of your AOL toolbar (the small button which looks like a circular arrow). Often this will resolve the problem immediately.

If the problem continues to occur please take the following steps:

Clear out the web cache

The browser cache or temporary internet files folder contains a record of the web pages you have visited. Storing these files in your cache can take up space and sometimes cause AOL to run slowly. From time to time, you may need to clear out these files to free up some space on your computer.

1. Right-click the AOL icon in your Windows system tray (at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, next to your PC's clock).
2. Select System Information.
3. Click the Utilities tab.
4. Click Clear Browser Cache.
AOL 9.0 VR users: Click Clear beside Current Cache.
5. Click the X in the top right-hand corner to close the system information window.

Allow uncompressed graphics

1. Sign-on to AOL and go to AOL Keyword: Preferences.
2. Under the Essentials tab, select Internet (Web Browser) Settings.
3. Under the Web Graphics heading ensure Never compress graphics is selected.

Enable pictures to be shown in internet options

1. Click on Start then Settings and Control Panel.
Windows XP/Vista users: Click Start, then Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel, double-click on the Internet Options icon.
Windows XP/Vista users may need to click Switch to Classic View in order for this option to be visible.
3. Under the Advanced tab, scroll down to multimedia and make sure that Show Pictures is ticked.

Now try going to the web site again.
