Use the Quick Restore facility
AOL 9.0 and 9.0 VR only:
This will reset the AOL software to its original state. It's faster than uninstalling and reinstalling the AOL software.
1. Use the one-click fix to run a *Quick restore of the AOL software.
2. When the One-Click Fix is complete, click Done and try to sign on to AOL.
*To use this fix, you'll need to first download One-Click Fixes. To run the fix you must be using the AOL software or Internet Explorer. One-Click Fixes are unavailable for Windows Vista and Macintosh users.
If you cannot use the one-click fix above, please follow the steps below to run a quick restore:
1. Right-click the AOL icon in your Windows system tray (at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, next to your computer's clock).
2. Select System Information.
3. Click Utilities or AOL software.
4. Select Quick Restore and click Proceed or OK.
5. Click OK when prompted.
AOL 8.0 and below: Clear the graphics cache
1. From the AOL Toolbar click on Settings or Customise and then Preferences.
2. Click on Font, Text & Graphics.
3. Reduce the Graphics Preferences to 5 megabytes.
4. Click Save.
5. Close the AOL software, then restart it.
6. Repeat steps 1-3 but this time set the Graphics Preferences back to 35 megabytes.
