What do advertisers use cookies for?

Cookies may be used by advertisers and the adservers they use to present adverts on AOL’s network and to manage their delivery of adverts, including to calculate how many unique web users have seen a particular page or adverts on a page, to show a sequence of adverts in the correct order, or to show a different adverts if an advert is not producing a response.
