What does 'always-on' mean for a Broadband connection?

Broadband internet access is commonly referred to as 'always-on', which means that you'll enjoy continuous access without having to dial-up to the internet. This doesn't mean that you have to always leave your computer on, or pay more to keep the connection. It's there twenty-four hours a day, whenever you need it.
