What to do if someone asks for your password

No one who works for (or with) AOL will EVER ask you for your password online. Anyone who does is trying to defraud you, and you should report them at once by signing on to AOL, going to Keyword: Notify AOL and clicking on either Email or Instant Messages (depending on whether you were asked for you password via email or IM).

If you HAVE given someone your password, please change it IMMEDIATELY by signing on to AOL and going to AOL Keyword: Password.

You should change your password before you sign off from AOL. If you don't do this, someone may access your account before you get back online, meaning that you will be unable to sign on to AOL. They could also pretend to be you online, delete your AOL screen names or make other unwanted changes to your AOL account.

If you have any queries, you can also sign-on to AOL and go to AOL Keyword: Notify AOL to write to the AOL Conditions of Service staff (just click on Ask The Staff).

Finally, you can get advice on the topic of password security at AOL Keyword Safety .
