When a web page asks for a password

Some websites require you to register with their site so they know who's visiting and can control access to certain parts of the site. Once you've registered, they often assign you a user name and password for their site, which you must enter in order to view the rest of their offerings. For your protection, if you are given the opportunity to suggest a user name or password, you should never use your screen name or current password.

Note: When registering, remember that many of these sites will add you to their email or postal mailing lists when you register. If you find yourself added to that sort of mailing list, you will need to contact them yourself if you want to have your name removed.
