Use 2-step with phone verification

We'll send you a text or call you with a new code that needs to be entered at sign-in. The phone number we contact you with may be different each time.

Enable 2-step for phone

1. Sign in to your Account Security page.
2. Next to "2-Step Verification," click Turn on 2SV.
3. Click Get started.
4. Select Phone number for your 2-step verification method.
5 Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

Sign in with 2-step for phone

1. Sign in to your AOL account with your password.
2. Enter the verification code sent to your phone.
3. Click Verify.

Use 2-step with authenticator app verification

Authenticator apps provide secure verification codes that act as the second step in 2-step verification. After entering your password, you'll need to enter the code generated by your authenticator app to sign in.

How do I get an authenticator app?

Download an authenticator app from the Google Play Store or App Store. Popular authenticator apps include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, and Authy.

1. Sign in to your Account Security page.
2. Next to "2-Step Verification," click Turn on 2SV.
3. Click Get started.
4. Select Authenticator app for your 2-step verification method.
-To see this option, you'll need to have at least 2 recovery methods on your account .
5. Click Continue.
6. Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.
7. Click Continue.
8. Enter the code shown in your authenticator app.
9. Click Done.

1. Sign in to your AOL account with your password.
2. Enter the verification code shown in your authenticator app.
3. Click Verify.

Disable 2-step verification on your account

1. Sign in to your Account Security page.
2. Next to "2-Step Verification," click Manage.
3. Click Turn off.
